I'm a bit bummed today. I set my tiny little sprouts of basil and parsley outside to get some fresh air and sun. Soon after they were spirited away by the evil landlord, never to be seen again. They were so young and naive. They had no idea that you shouldn't take candy from a stranger and let them throw you in the trash can. It was my fault, really, I never warned them of stranger danger.
So now I bow my head and remember their short little lives, once just seedlings, now cast among the rubbish and Hot Pocket wrappers from my neighbor's grimy leavings. A moment, please.

But there is a silver lining, the landlord apologized and offered to buy a new starter garden for me. I suppose he isn't as evil as I thought. Perhaps...
